Revit is a popular building information modeling software owned by Autodesk. The same company that owns the other popular AutoCAD software. Building Information Modeling is the process of digitally modeling a building before building it on the site.
Revit does exactly this and, therefore, is used by several members of the construction industry (architects, engineers, MEP consultants, contractors, etc.) to design and document a building.
Unlike AutoCAD, in Revit it is possible to virtually model a building that contains information that can be used for several construction processes, such as analysis, take-off of quantities, coordination of shocks, etc. It is much more efficient when it comes to collaborating and managing information.
