Connect your apps with a REST-based backend and take advantage of the Apache Cordova plugins

Ionic is the infrastructure (combination of frameworks) that allows to create mobile applications in native format and programmed in HTML5, thanks to the use of the most current technologies, such as AngularJS, Sass or Cordova. In this course you will learn to create an app that serves to exemplify the typical tasks in the creation of applications, using Ionic 2 to create an attractive interface. You will see how to create a PHP-based back-end to serve data to the app and to create, modify and delete records. Finally you will see how to use some Apache Cordova plugins to further utilize the capabilities of the mobile device.

Introduction to Ionic 2 Application with REST in Drupal
In this first chapter of the course we will start working on the app, on Ionic 2 and on the possible problems that we can find when emulating the project in IOs and Android platforms.

Description of the project created with Ionic 2 and REST 01:54
Ionic 2: what it is and how to work with it 03:06
Installation of Ionic. Base files of the program 03:50
PHP Microframework: Slim 3 04:46
Application platforms: emulating in IOs 04:16
Compiling or emulating projects on Android 04:15
Installation of the project database 02:23

Preparation of the project back-end with Ionic 2
We will start working on the back-end first, preparing the REST services that will return the data to the application. We will see that it is really easy to create them using Slim and we will learn to create the routes for each service.

Creating the services: the routing 02:40
Connecting to the database through a function 05:02
Retrieve data and data from a record 06:19
Using PUT to modify records 07:46
Add new records and delete records 07:57

Assembly of the main structure of the project with Ionic 2
The first phase in Ionic projects is usually to set up the navigation system and organize the services that will be used to receive and send data and share information throughout the application.

Structure of the project Adding the pages of the app 07:56
Add the services to communicate with the back-end 07:55
Modify global styles of access to content 02:01
Prepare the system for the connection to the services 03:38

Preparation of services using REST
Throughout this chapter we will assemble the provider's methods that will provide the data to the different pages of the application. This is where we will create the communication between the app and the back-end.

GET: loading all the data 05:27
Loading system of concrete elements 01:38
POST: Adding records 01:42
PUT: Modifying the number and registration 01:54
DELETE: removing record 01:24

Work on the Home page
With the services prepared, we can now create the entire HTML structure of the sections, and in this chapter we will focus on the Home section, which is the most complicated of them all.

Data recovery through the provider 04:17
Creating a slider on the Home page 04:05
Recovery of slide data 08:40
Work on global variables using a provider 03:02
Add the Google Map to our application 04:19
Add the rest of the items on the screen 05:56
Send the map to the place where I have seen the bird 07:57
Button modify number of times seen 07:01

Preparation of the insertion form
The next part in which we are going to work on the application is the creation of a form that will be used to send the data to the server. We will use the insertion form because it is completely independent of the rest of the app.

Creation of the insertion form 03:22
Installing geolocation with Cordova 04:15
Associate the form data to the models 02:19
Service application add record 05:18

Section list within the Ionic 2 project
The last chapter will be to finalize the application, creating on one hand the last two pages by reusing part of the code, and on the other commenting some of the possible improvements that we have.

Create the list of items and application of your data 03:36
Detail view of an item in the Home 08:41
Edit button and record editing page 10:00
Add the delete button using a prompt 06:48
Latest adjustments and improvements in the application with Ionic 2 03:01
