Engine Start Diagram.

Hi how are you, complementing a little what I explained in the video, below I show you a general scheme of what is the starting circuit of a car.

In fact, it has been that way for quite some time, even the most modern ones meet this criterion.

Taking into account this scheme we can make a fairly simple diagnosis when our engine does not start.

The steps to check the engine starting system would be the following:

From the simplest to the most complex.

Verify that the battery terminals are in good tightening and cleaning conditions.

If they are dirty or loose, the system will not have enough energy to move to the engine.

Verify that the starter relay is activated.

If the relay is not activated, the bendix will not activate the starter motor. Check in this case that the ground signal exists at one terminal of the relay coil and that the START signal (positive voltage) reaches the other end of the relay coil.

If all the signals arrive at the relay but it is not active, you can check the coil with a multimeter to see if it was burned as follows:

Check the fuses of both the bendix and the starter main.

If any of these are burned, it may suggest a problem. Before replacing, check that there are no short circuits in wires, or internal problems with the engine starting that cause the fuse to blow.

Something important to add is that some car models do not use a fuse for starting, but rather a link fuse system. It contains a bimetallic which, when a fault occurs, opens, and when it cools it closes again.

As an exercise I propose to eliminate the caiman and place a three-way and two-step suiche. This would have a tester of acceptable quality that can be used in your home or workshop.
